Cheap, Healthy Foods - Watch Your Weight And Your Budget
By Angela Tyler
A major issue for those who are trying to create a healthy lifestyle is the cost of healthy food. There are many products on the shelves of your local grocery store that are healthy,

but most of them have a larger price tag than the unhealthy, high-fat foods. There are options. If you shop wisely, you can eat healthier than you ever have before and decrease your grocery bill at the same time. Nutritious eating doesn't need to be expensive.

Less Junk = More Savings:

In choosing healthy foods, keep in mind that you will automatically be spending less than before due to the absence of junk foods that you may normally purchase such as soft drinks, sugary snacks, and high fat meats.

Less Waste = Less Waiste:

Healthy eating is not just eliminating certain foods from your diet; it is replacing them with healthy foods. And, if weight control is your goal, you will also be reducing your portion sizes, which will mean less money spent on each meal.

Less Meat, More Veggies:

Reducing the amount of meat you eat and replacing it with vegetables is a great way to save money. Fresh vegetables are not nearly as expensive as meat or poultry and your body will thank you for it. Salad is another cheap, healthy food. The pre-packaged salads will cost a bit more than if you purchase the lettuce and other vegetables separately and prepare the salad yourself.

Frugal Fruit:

Fruit can be a somewhat expensive, but if you purchase canned fruits in low-sugar syrup or water, you will pay relatively little in comparison to fresh fruit. Apples and oranges are inexpensive compared to some other fruits and you can often find sales that will further reduce your expenses.

Beans and Rice are Nice:

Legumes and rice are very inexpensive and you can use either or both of these to replace meat several times per week.

Save on Meat:

Canned fish costs considerably less than fresh fish and still contains most of the nutrients. Canned tuna and salmon are very cheap and are very low in fat and calories if you choose the varieties packed in water rather than oil. Chicken is less expensive if you purchase a whole chicken and remove the skin yourself before cooking.

Healthy food does not have to be expensive. You can purchase cheap healthy foods and not only eliminate unhealthy fat and calories, but you can actually save money if you shop wisely.About The Author: Would you rather spend time doing the things you love rather than being stuck in the kitchen? http://www.freequickrecipes.com -- has quick recipes for mothers... and others. Five Habits That Can Contribute To Being Overweight
By Bill Herren
Is your lifestyle contributing to your weight gain? For healthy people – weight gain is caused by simply consuming more calories than you burn. Unfortunately for most of us, our healthy lifestyle education comes in the form of a blaring commercial that is trying to convince us that eating this "lite" food or using that "miracle exercise machine" will lead to a healthy, fun, lean lifestyle! A healthy, lean lifestyle takes effort and education. Hopefully these five steps will get you started on a path to meet your weight loss goals.

• Skipping meals and then overeating when you make time to eat. Skipping meals leads to blood sugar fluctuations, moodiness, and can even lead to overeating. Eat healthy meals and snacks at regular intervals.

• Not moving your body. The body is designed to move. Period. Exercise can brighten your mood and lighten your body.

• Drinking cola or sugar drinks when you are thirsty. When your body is thirsty it is asking for water.

• Snacking on empty calories. Being fat free or low carb does not make it healthy. Empty calories

(calories void of nutritional value) do nothing for your body.

• Watching an abundance of TV. A recent article stated that you use less energy while watching TV than while sitting still!

Most of us do these habits and are totally unaware of how unhealthy and destructive they can be. Of course this article is not telling you to never watch TV, or never snack – it is merely trying to raise your level of awareness of some things you may be doing that may be sabotaging your diet efforts. Observe your habits and ask yourself if they are contributing to a healthy lifestyle and an ideal weight or are they contributing to an unhealthy lifestyle and being overweight. Arm yourself with knowledge and achieve your ideal weight.

I wish for you the best of health,

Low Calorie Diet

Low Calorie Diet
by SPENCER HUNT

One of the oldest tried and true methods of weight loss is a low calorie diet. A diet low in calories, when combined with a regular exercise regime, can be very effective in helping you to lose weight. There are some basic guidelines you can follow, but the most basic is to read nutrition labels on the foods that you eat. Of course, fresh fruits and vegetables have very few calories, as do chicken breasts and lean meats. If you are counting calories, you should have an idea of how many calories you want to restrict yourself to daily. For health reasons, you should not allow your daily caloric intake to drop below 1200. This can be unhealthy.
What are Calories?

Technically, a calorie is the amount of heat that is required at the pressure of one atmosphere to raise the temperature of one gram of water by one degree Celsius. This is equal to about 4.19 joules. To us regular folk, a calorie is a unit of energy in the foods that we eat. A burger with 500 calories offers 500 units of energy. Of course, too many calories can result in an excess and then your body stores it as fat. Additionally, low calorie foods can still be high in fat which could defeat the purpose if your goal is to lose weight. So, simply put, calories are energy.

What are Some Low Calorie Foods?

There are many low calorie foods on the market, but your best bet for the healthiest, lowest fat and lowest calorie choices are the fresh foods. Steer clear of canned and processed foods. They can contain hidden sugars and fats and can cause you to gain weight. Fresh fruits, vegetables, meats and dairy products (the "horseshoe" of the supermarket) are your best bet. Learn to read labels for other foods that you eat. You may find yourself choosing brown rice over white and whole wheat pasta over flour because of the health benefits and lower calories. A low calorie diet can be healthy and easy to follow - just keep it fresh.

How Many Calories do You Need?

Different people have different caloric requirements. There are many factors that determine this: activity level, gender and age are big ones. There is a way to determine how many calories you need. The formula is somewhat difficult but it is fairly accurate. You first need to determine your BMR, or basal metabolic rate. This is how much energy your body expends at rest. For men, add 1.0 kcal per kilogram of body weight per hour. Women use .9 kcal per kilogram of body weight per hour.

Once you have determined your BMR, add 20% to 4 0% of your BMR if you are sedentary. 55% to 65% is added to your BMR for light activity, 70% to 75% is added to your BMR for moderate activity and 80% to 100% is added to your BMR for heavy activity. This figure will tell you how many calories you require per day. Multiply that figure by 7 for your weekly caloric intake requirement. From this amount you need to subtract 3,500 from your weekly caloric requirement for each pound of weight that you want to lose. (It is suggested that you lose no more than 2 pounds a week because more than that can be unhealthy and can cause you to look flabbier even if you lose the weight.) Divide this figure by 7 and that will tell you how many calories you need each day in order to lose the pounds you want to lose.

Picking Out The Best Nursing School
By Linda Emerson
The health care profession has certainly grown throughout recent years from pharmacists to doctors and especially nurses wherein the demand in the United States has been steadily increasing. Various nursing schools, which can be found in the country, will be able to provide nursing aspirants with the proper training as well as nursing degrees which will play a critical role in the country’s health care system.

Since there are various nursing schools in the country, expect that these nursing schools also offer various types of nursing education which includes the registered nursing degree, RN to BSN programs, licensed practical nursing schools, RN to MSN programs, CAN training as well as parish nursing. It really depends on the kind of nursing job that you want to pursue later after you graduate from the nursing school.

In nursing schools, some of the nursing education programs are especially designed for students who are already registered nurses who want to give their career that added boost which is why in the RN to BS nursing education programs in the nursing schools, teachers will their nursing school students to prepare for the transition towards taking on more senior nursing roles in the nursing profession.

Each and every nursing school actually offers the needed clinical training which is needed in your area so that you will be ensured that whatever nursing education and training that you get from these nursing schools, you will surely be able to benefit from them once you start working in the health care profession. Also make sure that whichever nursing school that you choose to attend to is actually NLN accredited.

Nursing school graduates are definitely in high demand nowadays since there are more and more important managing roles in clinics, hospitals, research etc that are in great need of professional nurses. There is actually a great shortage of nurses in the United States which is why a lot people are being encouraged to become nurses since not only is it a great job but it does have its numerous benefits as well. However, if the United States continues to have a great shortage on nurses, the country will be suffering a shortage of 400,000 professional nurses by the year 2020.

A good nursing education from a reputable nursing school will be able to help these nursing students

prepare for the seemingly daunting task of helping the sick, the injured and the disabled. And in addition, each and every nursing school in the United States also offers financial aid as well as job placement assistance for their students.

Aside from the usual nursing schools wherein you actually have to go there to have the nursing education that you are looking for, take classes and basically just have a normal nursing life, there are those working professionals who are thinking of becoming professional nurses but don’t actually have the time to go to nursing schools. Various nursing schools in the country have thought of putting up online schools so that these working professionals as well as those who opt to have the leisure of time when it comes to studying, to just take their classes as well as their other training modules in the comfort of their own homes or whichever place they can find which has a computer and an internet connection.

The California College for Health Sciences is a good online nursing school because it offers comprehensive online diploma courses for both bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in various health care professions such as Nursing, respiratory therapy, early childhood education, public health and health care management. This popular online nursing school also offers the following health care programs, administration (for the medical office), dental assistant, gerontology, EKG technician, health care management as well as health care management associates, health care management (bachelor’s degree), health care management (master’s degree), medical transcription, nursing (master’s degree), nursing (RN to bachelor’s degree), pharmacy assistant/technician and respiratory therapy.

There really are a lot of career opportunities that are just waiting to be tapped by simply attending a reputable nursing school. Various nursing jobs that are available in various hospitals and clinics right now are the following: registered nurse, case management nurse, clinical nurse specialist, home health aides, home health nurse, hospital nurse. LPN careers nurse, anesthetist nurse, midwife nurse practitioner and nursing aides.

How 40,000 People Reverse Heart Disease
By Joey Dweck
Written by the Editors at Weight Loss Buddy Press in colaboration with Hans A. Diehl, DrHSc, MPH, FACN, CNS

It is well known that about two-thirds of the U.S. population is either overweight or obese. The U.S. Surgeon General has stated that approximately 75% of Western diseases, such as heart disease, stroke, hypertension, diabetes, gout, arthritis, excess weight gain, hypertension, diabetes, some cancers, impotence, diverticular disease, constipation, heartburn, and gallbladder disease, are “lifestyle-related.” They are directly correlated with our high fat diet, inadequate amounts of exercise, smoking, high intake of caffeine, and high amounts of stress coupled with insufficient support.

Hoping to address this alarming situation, more than 20 years ago, cardiovascular epidemiologist Hans A. Diehl, DrHSc, MPH, created the Coronary Health Improvement Project (CHIP). Since then, this 40-hour community-based lifestyle intervention program has helped more than 40,000 people rediscover their health by preventing, arresting and reversing their diseases. It has been conducted in more than 150 North American cities as well as in Bangalore, India, Australia and Switzerland. Depending upon the needs of the group, the meetings are held either “live” with Dr. Diehl delivering the program personally (usually meeting four times per week for four weeks) or as a “video-based” program with certified CHIP facilitators (normally two times per week for eight weeks). In addition, Dr. Diehl is a best-selling author – To Your Health, Dynamic Living, and Health Power (co-authored with Aileen Ludington, M.D.) -- as well as the executive editor of a 24-page quarterly Lifeline Health Letter; he has produced scores of health videos. CHIP empowers people through its scientifically-documented, educational and inspirational program that addresses common western diseases -- those that used to be seen primarily later in life. Today, these diseases increasingly appear at far younger ages. CHIP may make all the difference in one’s life -- even the difference between life and death.

In 1999, CHIP launched a “community health transformation template” in Rockford, Illinois, a city with a population of 130,000. The intention was to transform Rockford into the healthiest city in American, thereby enabling it to serve as a model and template for cultural transformation on a community-wide level. Recently, CHIP was recognized as just such a model by HHS Secretary Tommy Thompson and was “approved” under the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as a “STEPS to a HealthierUS” applicant. In addition to “live” CHIP, a series of CHIP videos are offered through schools, churches, corporations, and hospitals. In Rockford, CHIP is sponsored by the Swedish American Health System’s Center for Complementary Medicine.

Who is the typical CHIP participant? Generally, CHIP participants are over the age of 40. Most are between the ages of 50 and 59. There are twice as many women as men, and almost 90% are married. Clinical research, published in peer review journals, has found that they have the following lifestyle diseases:

 10% report having heart disease
 27% have elevated blood sugar
 42% are overweight
 49% show evidence of hypertension
 60% are obese
 89% are cholesterol above 160mg%

Over the course of the program, strict adherents are likely to experience significant

clinical improvements such as the following:

 Serum cholesterol reduction average 15 – 20%
 Average weight loss of six pounds
 In about half of the participants with type 11 diabetes, a dramatic reduction in need for insulin and hypoglycemic agents
 Lowering of high blood pressure levels
 Diminishing of angina
 Reduced levels of depression and increase in self-esteem

Connie Thebarge’s Story
At the age of 59, Connie Thebarge, a patient at the Ottawa Heart Institute in British Columbia, Canada, was told that her doctors could no longer help her. After all, in addition to suffering from hypertension, she had diabetes and painful diabetic neuropathy. She had two heart attacks followed by a triple coronary bypass surgery and an unsuccessful angioplasty. Every day, she had to take 27 pills. Not surprisingly, she was also depressed.

Yet, today, more than a decade later, Thebarge walks three miles a day, swims twice a week, dances, and travels to Florida and Europe. No longer depressed, she also requires far fewer pills. How was this accomplished? Thebarge participated in CHIP and transformed her life.

Shortage Of Radiographers Leads To Overseas Recruitment Drive
By S. Mallon
A shortage of crucial medical staff has seen an increase in the recruitment of radiography staff from abroad.

The health sector seems to have consistent and sustained issues with staffing levels with increasing movement towards the private sector, the recruitment of specialist staff to both public and private sector appears to be increasingly difficult. There is an acknowledged shortage of radiographers within the UK and the NHS has gone on a drive to encourage more radiography professionals within the health service.

This shortage has seen the importation of radiography professionals from abroad, notably from Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Ireland in an attempt to plug the skills gap in both the private sector and the NHS. This shortage has been exploited by the commercial sector in an attempt to aid the governments drive to recruit skilled staff to these sectors. The rise of specialist recruitment agencies such as RIG Radiography Recruit specifically targets this apparent gap in the employment sector to fill the radiography job vacancies in both the public and private sectors. Interestingly, this site and others like it, look both within

the UK and abroad in its attempts to encourage qualified radiography professionals to enter the UK health sector.

The shortage of radiography jobs is felt not only in the UK, but worldwide. A US study reveals similar shortages in crucial healthcare specialists demonstrating a wider problem with radiography recruitment. Whilst the contribution of specialist radiography recruitment sites contributes to alleviating the shortfall of radiographers, there appears to be a systemic issue in Western nations in filling the empty radiography jobs.

Frugal Fruit: Fruit can be a somewhat expensive, but if you purchase canned fruits in low-sugar syrup or water, you will pay relatively little in comparison to fresh fruit.

You can purchase cheap healthy foods and not only eliminate unhealthy fat and calories, but you can actually save money if you shop wisely.About The Author: Would you rather spend time doing the things you love rather than being stuck in the kitchen? http://www.freequickrecipes.com -- has quick recipes for mothers... and others. Lip Color By SeneGence Lipsense

By Robin Brain
Every girl today wants to look good. They use a lot of cosmetics to make themselves beautiful. They take a lot of pains to improve their looks like straightening their hair, whitening their complexion using creams and making their lips lustrous using lip sense and lip gloss. Here we will discuss about their lips. The girls use lip sense to make their lips most kissable, attractive and lustrous. Lipsense is a product manufactured by SeneGence and is called SeneGence lipsense. SeneGence lipsense is a semi permanent lip color which imparts a particular color to the girl's lips on a temporary basis.

Since SeneGence lip sense is semi permanent, so, it leaves an option for the girl who applies it on her lips that she wants to sleep without removing it or not. She can remove the color while removing rest of the make-up at night before sleeping or she can sleep with that color on her lips and when she wakes up the color looks as fresh as it was while sleeping or when it was applied to the lips. This lip sense lasts for many days unless it is removed by the girl itself. Moreover it contains substances which do not let the lips to get dried up. This means it can remain on the lips of a girl for many days and yet it will not dry the lips up. Those substances will keep on moisturizing the lips and make lips as beautiful and shining as they can be made. Lip sense has proved to be the best lip color for the working woman as well as the homemaking woman today.

Today most of the lip colors contain wax and resins or both. Chemically wax is a product of distillation of petroleum. As petroleum creams causes the skin to develop cracks on drying, similarly, wax also develops cracks on the lips when it gets dried. So most of the lip sticks are not able to act as moisturizing agent for the lips and they cannot provide required moisture content to the lips to make them shine and more attractive. Instead lip sense can be applied which contains oils which penetrate the epidermal layer and keeps the lips moisturized from the inside resulting in more shininess and attractiveness of the lips. It also heals the dry and cracked lip which was caused by the previous lip stick. It patches up the cracks and makes them soft again. So lip sense can be a great advantage over the traditional lip stick used by most of the girls.

Herbal Remedies For Acid Indigestion

By Sandra Kim Leong

Herbal remedies for acid indigestion can be considered if you do not want to take antacids. Generally, as herbal remedies are natural, they are less harmful to our body. It is true that indigestion is becoming a pervasive problem in modern society. You just need to look around to get an indication. If you look at supermarket and drugstore shelves, you can find them filled with antacids. Television or radio commercials have also been heavily promoting antacids as the cure for heartburn.

An acid indigestion that persists or worsens, despite various solutions you try or adjustments you make in your diet, should not be left unattended. You should have it checked by a health professional.

To achieve proper digestion, your stomach needs to be relaxed. If you tend to overeat or eat too quickly, you are likely to suffer from indigestion. Consuming too much food at one sitting burdens the stomach; its digestive juices get diluted making them function less efficiently. Thus, you may taste the stomach acid and feel pain.

You can try herbal remedies for acid indigestion as safer alternatives to antacids. Herbal remedies have virtually little or no toxicity unlike manufactured over-the-counter medicines. These does not mean that herbs are not potent at all; if fact, some of them are. Before using any natural remedies, you should check with your doctor that it is safe for you to do so. Here are some known herbal remedies for acid indigestion:

Slippery Elm. This herb was used by early folk healers as a digestive tonic and for treatment of acid indigestion and dysentery. The relief it brings to acid indigestion derives from its healing action on the mucous membranes. Herbalists believe it soothes inflamed tissues and draws toxins and other irritants from body tissues.

Licorice. A form of licorice called deglycyrrhizinated licorice (DGL), a chewable form of the herb, is a natural antacid. Unlike a regular licorice, DGL does not have hormonal side effects. This makes DGL more effective and will not contribute to elevated blood pressures, which can be a side effect of other forms. Licorice helps fight ulcerations caused by hyperacidity.

Mint. An ancient medicinal herb, mint is a cooling diaphoretic that relieves indigestion, gas or colic, and heartburn. It can also calm nausea and vomiting. The menthol in mint appears to soothe the smooth muscle lining of the digestive tract. Some studies show peppermint also may help to prevent stomach ulcers and stimulate bile secretions.

Gentian. Gentian contains a chemical (gentianine) that stimulates the secretion of stomach acid, lending some credence to its 3,000-year old history as a digestive aid. Try it before meals. Gentian tastes very bitter, so you might want to add honey to your decoction.

Papaya (Fruit and Leaves). While papaya is not known as a herb, its plant has a surprising potency in combating digestive disorders and calming down a disturbed gastrointestinal tract. Its powerful enzyme, papain, helps to breakdown complex proteins, reducing the digestive load on the stomach.

In addition to the above suggestions, you can also try steamed cabbage. The glutamine in cabbage apparently settles an irritated stomach. Fresh cabbage juice, drank immediately after preparation, also helps in soothing. You should always chew your food well and eat in a stress-free setting to prevent acid indigestion.

Stop the Excuses and Start Exercising

By Thomas Kersting

I've heard every excuse from people who don't exercise. "I don't have the time." "I don't like my gym." "It's not for me."

Recently, when a client of mine came for his first appointment, the excuses came with him. Here's what I said to him. "Well John, I don't want you to go to the gym; Forget about it; you're right, gyms are useless." Puzzled, he looked at me and said, "are you being serious." I responded, "John, you have your very own gym and it's at your front doorstep; It's called the street." He was speechless.

Well folks, it's that simple. If you are overweight and you don't exercise, there are no excuses. Turn-off the television, put your sneakers on and walk out your front door. If it's too cold, put on gloves and a hat. If it's too hot, go in the morning. If it's raining, bring an umbrella. Losing weight is about dedication and if you want to live longer you need to become dedicated to exercise.

Excuses are mere defense mechanisms. They are your minds way of protecting you from doing things that you're not thrilled about doing, and exercise is one of them. Take for example a kid who doesn't do his homework. Why does he avoid it? Because he doesn't like it, so he keeps putting it off. Eventually the repercussions follow when he gets his report card or doesn't get into the college of his choice.

The same holds true for you. You're not exactly thrilled about exercising so you don't do it. But you will pay the price down the road when your doctor gives you a poor bill of health or your favorite jeans don't fit anymore.

Now what about the kid who completes homework and is rewarded with good grades? Bingo. He continues this pattern, does well in school, starts to crave success and eventually gets into the college of his choice. Excuses just aren't part of his repertoire. And the same will hold true for you once you get on track with exercise. When you sit down, acknowledge all of the excuses you're making and put them in perspective you will begin to see the light.

What I want you to do right now is to write down every excuse you make for not taking care of your body and your health; for not exercising. STOP reading for a moment and start writing.

Well, what did you come up with? Whatever it is, I don't want to hear it. You heard me. There are plenty of people out there who have far less time then you do, can't afford a gym membership, don't own a treadmill and have worse aches and pains than you do. But somehow they manage to squeeze in a 30 minute jog or walk every day. That's because their health is important to them, how they look and feel is important to them. And guess what, you have every ability that they have.

Now that you understand that there is a well-paved road right out your front door, don't you think it's time to squeeze in some good old-fashioned, fat burning cardiovascular exercise? I want you to look at your list and think long and hard about what I'm saying. If something doesn't click in your brain when you're done, then make sure you have good health insurance because you're going to need it.

Finding The Best Adult Acne Treatment For You

By Tim Orlando

You do not have to be stuck with adult acne as it can be treated immediately and appropriately. There are so many adult acne treatments available to you in the market, but you should find out more about such treatments. As is the case in any market, there would always be low quality products; finding out the best product for your condition is your own duty.

As most dermatologists would agree, knowing how to thoroughly cleanse your skin's surface is the first step you should take in your war against those "little monsters" . That does not imply you should go scrubbing your skin vigorously. On the contrary scrubbing too hard would cause more pimples to appear on your face. The scientific reasons are that scrubbing too hard would rupture pimples (lesions), spread bacteria, damage blood vessels, stretch your skin and damage skin tissue.

Rather than scrubbing the best way of cleansing is to use a products, which does the scrubbing. One common ingredient you should look out for in cleansers is salicylic acid. Acne skin care products like clear pores and healthy pores contain a facial wash that has this particular ingredient. Most dermatologists recommended Salicylic acid for use in unclogging hair pores. A 2% worth of salicylic acid is very effective in eliminating trapped whiteheads and blackheads. Daily use of an adult acne treatment product that contains salicylic acid would definitely give you a more glowing and healthier skin.

Another ingredient that is very effective in combating both teenage and adult acne is benzoyl peroxide. This ingredient prevents bacteria activities that cause inflammations, which result in breakouts (pimples).

As all skin experts would agree that the main causes of this skin disorder are hormonal and chemical imbalances inside the body, it is best to combat this problem by balancing such hormonal and chemical issues by the use of an oral supplement. There are a few quality acne skin care systems, which combine topical treatments with oral treatments. The benefits of combating the problem internally are:

  • The body flushes out toxins
  • Improves the nervous system
  • Balances hormonal and chemical levels in the body

All these said benefits aid in totally eradicating this dreadful skin problem from your life.

As quite a number of youths have solved their acne problems, you should seek solutions to ensuring your skin texture improves and prevent this dreadful skin problem from causing any more damage in your life. The best time to treat your acne is now before those little pimples turn into "Jupiter" sized ones and leave ugly scars on your skin.

Adult Acne Treatments - Finding The Best For You

By Tim Orlando

Your pimples are like a signboard. It is the first thing everybody sees when they look at your face. If you are like most acne sufferers the moment you pass by anything that reflects an image you tend to take a peep at your "pimples laced" face.

If you are reading this then it is only safe for me to assume that you are tired of all the annoying little pains that comes with having acne on your skin. If you suffer from acne it is most likely that your self esteem has taken some "bashing" all because you have those little monsters growing off your face.

It is only normal for everyone especially young adults like us to be concerned about the way we look, after all we all live in an age where appearance seems to be so important in umm "everything". Well not everything but a lot of things, one of which is social interaction.

Although I never really had problems with teen acne, when I was 17 years old, I started having pimples on my face but they were just one or two appearing sometimes once a week. That was not really a problem. Fast-forward to when I turned twenty and my face was like a "battle field".

How Many Times have you been disappointed with an acne product?

You must have tried some products that have cleared up some of the pimples on your face, but if you were like me you would later find out that some of those "topical" acne treatments actually lose their intensity to fight your acne problem after a while.

What do Acne sufferers display!!!

I am very sure that we do not need any researcher or "shrink" to tell us what those little "pimples" can do to us socially. It seems mild to severe acne sufferers usually display one of the following:

  • Low self-confidence
  • Frustration
  • Feelings of inadequacy
  • Depression
  • Refusal to socialize
  • Low self-esteem

How do I know these? Well in case you forgot I just you told at age twenty my face was a "WAR ZONE". Seriously it was. People looked at my face and cringed. The pimples were just too much. Enough of my own tales, this article was meant to educate you on the best acne treatments available to you and from now I will do just that. I promise :-)

Types of Acne medications

Before we start looking for the best acne treatment to clear your up your face, you should have a basic knowledge of the types of medication available to you.

If your acne problem just began, I can guess the form of treatment you are currently using to combat the problem is a bastardized form of "natural acne treatments". Yeah you guessed right!! - Washing your face like a "quadrillion" times in a day and also picking and "popping" your pimples. Hey in case you have not figured it out that routine will not work!!!

This is not to say that natural acne treatments which ensure proper skin care are not good or do not work, but hello! washing your face more than twice a day has adverse effects on your skin and could lead to even more breakouts (pimples).

Check acne skin to see a comprehensive way of reducing your acne breakouts by achieving proper acne skin care.

Okay aside the natural stuff, medications for your breakouts could be:

  • Prescription medications
  • Topical medications
  • Oral medications
  • Laser surgery - which is in its early stages to treat both acne scars and the pimple itself.

There are so many acne sufferers who use prescription medications for their acne problem. Products like accutane, Retin-A, Differin and Tazorac are quite popular and famous because of the large number of dermatologist and doctors who prescribe them to sufferers.

You have to consult with your dermatologist before you even attempt taking those medications. Although these prescribed medications work for some individuals, they could cause birth defects for pregnant women or nursing mothers risk causing severe complications for their babies.

Topical medications are the most popular form of acne medication for a large number of us having trouble with acne. It seems the two most common ingredients in most topical medications are benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid. These two ingredients in topical medications are very effective in clearing up your "pimple covered face". :-)

Using these topical medications that contain benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid, which are usually in the form of facial wash, lotion or gels thoroughly cleanses your skin pores. Products with the right amount of these active ingredients would usually prevent new pimple from forming on your skin to a certain extent, as they protect your skin surface against bacterial infections, which could have been as a result of so many factors like environmental pollution.

In case you did not know this, one of the causes of your acne problem has to do with your hormones being on overdrive. The male hormone testosterone, which is an androgen, is responsible for that.

What's my reason for saying that? Well it is because of the oral medications now used for combating acne from the inside of your body. These medications work on stabilizing the hormonal imbalance in your body. In simple words these oral medications work on solving the main cause of your acne problem and not on patching up the ugly results that is seen on your skin surface. Although you can take accutane to combat your pimple woes if prescribed by your dermatologist, it comes with side effects that could be really annoying.

A Product like the acnezine system contains oral supplements which work inside the body to rid the system of all internal factors causing your break outs.

A new technique being used by doctors to erase scars left by acne lesions is Laser surgery. This involves the use of laser beams to burn out scar tissues, which enable your skin (if you ever attempt such technique, you are on your on, I didn't tell you to do it.) to generate new, healthy tissues.

Few doctors have begun to use this technique to prevent acne from developing.

I do not know the side effects resulting from such techniques or even if there are side effects. Laser surgery is a new technique in removing acne so there is not much information available for now.

"If your acne problems have stopped and you are seeking ways to remove the scars left by the pimples, you should try Revitol's acne scar remover, which is a lot cheaper than laser surgery."

Which exactly is the best acne treatment

Okay I have been rambling about the types of medications and have not said the best acne treatments currently available to you.

Well there are a large number of useless products offering overnight cures, but that is not to say there are no credible products that are capable of ridding your skin of zits. Clear pores system seems to be the best system considering the level of combination treatment it provides which include:

  • Facial/body wash
  • Facial/body protection cream
  • Herbal supplement

Another very wonderful product is the acnezine system, which I used to rid myself of acne. It consists of a Skin Anti-Oxidant Capsule that fight the root cause of your pimples breakouts from within and a moisturizing crème containing benzoyl peroxide (you remember that ingredient), which fights acne-causing bacteria on your skin.

A number of former acne sufferers have testified to the effectiveness of healthy pores, which is definitely among the best acne treatment available currently in the market.

Understanding Acne In Adults

By Tim Orlando

Acne is usually associated with adolescents undergoing puberty. A large number of dermatologists would generally agree that more than 80% of adolescents experience the pain of being afflicted with this skin disorder. It seems that acne is beginning to get us when we are younger now, as kids of age 10 are being reported to suffer from this annoying skin problem.

The painful thing about this skin disorder is the long duration it usually stays on the skin, being at least five years for a large number of adolescents. For so many unfortunate teenage acne sufferers, their acne problem could seem to remain on their skins forever, sometimes as long as eight years translating into what dermatologists later call adult acne because such individuals are no longer teenagers.

As a number of young adults like myself have discovered, acne is not restricted to adolescents only. Although this skin disorder is more common in teenagers than in adults, the intensity could sometimes be very severe in adults. Many adults that are acne free tend to feel that adult acne is due to poor hygiene.

That notion is plain wrong as there is no type of this skin disorder that is caused by poor hygiene, it could worsen the condition but it is not the main cause. Hormonal and chemical imbalances in your body are the major causes of the acne condition that you currently experience. Such imbalances in your body cause your sebaceous glands to secrete more oil (sebum) than usual, which in most situations results in pimples breakouts.

A simple understanding of how acne pimples form on the skin would correct the notion that acne is caused by poor hygiene.. Every hair pore has a gland attached to it. This gland is called the sebaceous gland and it produces a sticky and greasy substance (sebum also know as oil). This oily substance (sebum) is very helpful in maintaining the skin's moisture. This is your body's way of preventing your skin from drying out. But it becomes a problem when the sebaceous glands produces too much sebum.

This over production in sebum is as result of hormonal and chemical imbalances in your body. When the sebaceous glands produces an excess amount of sebum, the hair pores get blocked with both sebum and some dead skin cells. The clogged pores results in increased bacteria activity that produces an inflammation on the skin, which results in blackheads, whiteheads and in severe cases nodules and cysts.

Going by some medical encyclopedia that I checked recently, a special kind of bacterium know as Propionibacterium lives on the human skin. This bacterium is harmless only when the amount of sebum (oil) produced by the sebaceous gland is of the normal quantity. The moment the sebaceous gland produces too much sebum this bacterium secretes enzymes and chemicals that results in an inflammation on the skin. This inflammation results in pimples, cyst, and nodules, which you see on your skin. Such pimples, cyst, and nodules if left untreated would definitely results in permanent and deep scars that would remind you of your adult acne every time you look in the mirror.

Hormones and Adult Acne

There are quite a number of factors that affect the hormonal changes in your body, some of which are: the condition of the environment (pollution), ultraviolet rays, water and food intake. In modern times, farmers' use various ways of ensuring a bountiful harvest, some of which include the use of growth steroids (in cattle), pesticides and genetically produced foods. All these affect the quality of the foods we consume and are one of the causes of hormonal and chemical imbalances in the body. Some other factors that could worsen your adult acne condition include:

  • Picking at or squeezing at the pimples
  • Side effects from some drugs - (contraceptive pills and some other drugs)
  • Harsh scrubbing of the skin
  • Use of Oil based cosmetic products
  • Stress, illness or exhaustion
  • Heat and moisture
  • Pregnancy
  • Menstruation
  • Menopause

Here's A Quick Way How To Use Your Hair Straightener On Wet Hair

By Kristy Klien

When considering buying a flat iron you may be looking into the idea of using a flat iron on wet hair. It is possible to buy these and they are designed to not only straighten your hair but also dry at the same time. The design of the product will use a channel and venting system which will evaporate any excess water whilst straightening the hair even if you have just walked out of the shower. The design of these flat irons will lock in the moisture and the glossiness while drying out the hair to a perfect finish.

If you want to have the perfect finish after using your flat iron then there are some steps that will get your hair super sleek and shinny. You will also need to have access to some products; some of the suggested items include the following. Anti frizz serum either in a lotion or spray form, a hair dryer, usually it is recommended to have one between 1300 - 1800 watts, the only reason for this is to reduce the length of drying time. Of course you need the trusty flat iron; these do come in different sizes so make sure you get one that is suitable for your hair type. The usual recommendation is to have a one inch flat iron for short or fine hair, or you could get a wider plate size for thicker and longer hair, maybe up to 2 inches. Important accessories that you will require also include sectioning clips so you can separate your hair and create even sections. Plus finally a rat comb so you can remove any knots and tangles from your hair.

If we now outline the process that you should follow when using a flat iron on wet hair it is as follows. While your hair is wet use the anti frizz lotion or spray, make sure that you distribute the product throughout the hair evenly. This stage is a very important process when using flat irons as it will help to increase the length of time that the style and straightness stays in place.

Once the product has been applied to the hair then you will need to blow dry the hair unless you are using the new hair straightening irons that dry and straighten. If you are using the wet hair irons then follow the same process as dry hair except you will not need to use the hair dryer. So simply section the hair off and use the flat iron to straighten and dry, follow the same process for each section until you have covered all of the hair. It is very important that you do not use the normal flat irons on wet hair only use the specialist ones that are available. It is now possible to buy the wet hair ones on the internet or in electrical retail stores, if you are in any doubt about what type you should use or how to use the irons then consult a specialist.

Herbal Colon Cleansers For Use At Home

By Sandra Kim Leong

Herbal colon cleansers are now widely sold in several pharmacy outlets. Alternative health practitioners say that the fecal matter which the body fails to evacuate can cause several health problems, such as constipation, bloating, abdominal pain, and in some cases contribute to irritable bowel syndrome. Inadequate fiber intake is often cited as the reason for incomplete evacuation of feces during bowel movements. Over a period of time, a certain quantity of such matter will latch on to the walls of the intestines. This eventually results in the development of digestive diseases.

While claims that more than 20 to 40 pounds of feces may be found in the colon at any one time appear to be mostly exaggerated, a more realistic figure stands at perhaps one to perhaps three pounds, depending on your height and weight. A lot has been written about the need for colon cleansing. Some more hype than others. Many of them are written to promote the various herbal ones in the market. There are some things you need to be aware of, before buying one for use at home.

The first step is to review your diet. If you are eating mainly refined and processed foods, it is time for a change! Instead, consider switching to organic vegetables and fruits as well as organically produced milk and meats. Choose whole grain and consume enough water so that your intestines can break down the foods and extract the nutrients needed. Avoid consuming fast food, sugary snacks, and fried foods. A review of your diet can definitely help to prevent constipation and for the easy evacuation of fecal matter from your body.

If you suspect that you have lots of toxins in your body due to years of gastrointestinal abuse, then opt to use a herbal colon cleanser for some help. Most cleansers will work in as few as three to seven days. There is no reason to do it for 30 or more days, as some regimens suggest. However, if you have several severe symptoms of diseases, get more guidance with a detailed cleansing program from a qualified naturopathic doctor.

It is in your best interest to purchase herbal colon cleansers with supplements that are certified organic and that provide a guaranteed analysis of the ingredients with respect to weight. If your natural colon cleanser relies on psyllium husks to do its work, then do make sure that you abide by the instructions so that you can obtain maximum benefits. While it, you may also want to go for body massages to help stimulate your digestive system in shedding hardened fecal matter.

An alternative to herbal colon cleansers are cleansers with chemical ingredients. However, try to stay away from the latter as these tend to be harsh and will cause severe abdominal discomfort. Additionally, avoid the use of cleansers that require usage for a prolonged period of time. While they are helpful, you also do not want to build up a dependency on laxatives either. A dependency can in turn, result in other serious health risks. If in doubt, always seek the advice of your health care provider.

Sandra Kim Leong recommends adopting a detox diet program to help remove accumulated toxins from the body. She strongly believes in the importance of digestive health. For free research, please sign up to her newsletter at http://www.Detox-Cleansing-Diet.com.

Fast Fat Loss

Two Essential Facts to Losing That Belly Fat
By Mike Armstrong

Are you still struggling to lose that belly fat? Still stuck with a flabby tummy despite all you have tried? It is not surprising. Many people are in that same position. It seems that every corner of the internet and shops are pushing one sure-fire miracle or another. There are machines of every shape and description, more supplements than you could ever consume and enough magic pills to impress Harry Potter. One thing is consistent with all these things; they DON'T work!

You have probably tried a few of these things and rocked and rolled on a few ab do-it-now machines. You are quite probably a bit miffed at being conned out of your hard earned money for something that these so-called experts say will sort out all of your problems.

Let's get down to the nitty gritty of all this. Forget the hype adverts and machines. Dump the scams. There are basic techniques and strategies which are proven over time to really work. Methods that do not require you to throw more money at them. Strategies that will not only drop your belly fat and body fat but will keep it off for life!

First Strategy.

It's an unfortunate fact of life that workouts are a necessary part of all this. You will need to incorporate the correct exercises so that you will stimulate fat loss from the tummy area. Many abdominal exercises are a waste of time. Do not waste more of your precious workout time on these exercises - meaning crunches, leg lifts, sit-ups and midriff twists, hoping to concentrate on simply reducing those hot spots you are worried about; ie. belly fat, love handles.

There is no point in trying to reduce weight on specific areas like this. You will not reduce belly fat on its own, by doing ab exercises. This is a myth. People spend a lot of wasted time on performing specific ab exercises. Now these may have their place in your routine, but not on their own. Only as part of a structured workout. A certain amount of ab exercising will strengthen your mid-section and help your back. However most of your time should be concentrating on whole body work focusing on multi-joint exercises. These will increase your metabolic rate during the workout and more significantly, for 1 - 2 days after the workout. This increases the activity of fat-burning hormones in your body. These hormonal and metabolic reactions are not present after pure ab exercises.

How do you do all this then? You need to get lifting some weights. Lift a barbell and perform a few squats. Practice with a few dead lifts, lunges and chest/back work. It does not matter what you do exactly - general weight exercises, weight machines at you local gym or even a multi-weight machine at home. The point is to use one of these methods to incorporate a multi-joint exercise regime at high intensity on a regular basis. Keep at it and don't simply do a little with extended rest period between. You need to get that metabolism working hard. Stimulate you body and work at it. Don't ease off. Hard work pays dividends.

Second Strategy

Forget the notion that dieting will get rid of your belly fat. Diets will not work. It is a well established fact that diets work against your body. Any of these fad-type diets such as low carbohydrate, low fat, restricted diets of any sort - anything in other words that restricts protein, fat or carbohydrate are not good. They will cause you to lose lean muscle. Muscle is the most efficient burner of energy. Losing muscle will lower your metabolic rate. When you do start to eat normally again after a diet the body's natural response is to put extra fat on again. You end up worse than when you started.

Diets basically alter various factors in your body, including insulin, muscle glycogen processes, blood sugar, etc..This ensures that you won't actually lose fat.

The most important fact to grasp here is that we all need to eat a balanced diet. It should be diverse and include protein, fats and carbohydrates. You will then ensure that your body is getting the right amounts of the various micro-nutrients needed. For an efficient fat-burning machine which you want your body to be, you have to make sure it's fed all it requires. Make sure you include anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals and enzymes. This is easily done by eating a balanced organic diet, free of preservatives and additives.

There is obviously a lot more I could go into here but I hope the strategies I have outlined will give you a good start to your quest to reduce both body and belly fat fast and improve your health as well!

Natural Health - Eye Care

Natural Health - Eye Care
by Richard Wise
So, in your lunch break, and on your way to and from work, give yourself a natural Eye Care break, simply by staying outdoors away from artificial lighting. Of course there are many people who compound eye strain from fluorescent lighting, by spending large amounts of their leisure time watching TV.

Television has its place, but if it becomes habitual, eyestrain will result. Parents in particular, should protect their children, and in the interests of natural health eye care limit TV viewing to sensible proportions.

So, what can natural health eye care offer tired eyes, to reduce the consequences of artificial light? There are herbs, which are thought to be beneficial. For instance, you could lie down for a short period, and cover each eye with a warm chamomile, elderflower, or fennel teabag.

It might not be a good idea to do this in the office, as colleagues might consider such behaviour rather odd, if not downright indulgent, if carried out in the staff room or rest area. You never know though, it could catch on because sometimes, if you think about it, accepted behaviour is the oddest! Your eyes are just about the best double act there is, and will serve you well with your due consideration to natural health Eye Care.

There are other herbs that you might find useful in administering natural health Eye Care. They include, decoctions of marigold and marshmallow, for bathing your eyes. Your herbalist or natural health supplier will be able to advise you about suitable preparations. There is nothing more precious to you than your eyes, and it is always advisable to seek qualified advice, and to make regular appointments to see your optician. However, there are steps that can be taken to reduce the effect of artificial lighting, that come under the umbrella of natural health Eye Care.

Some foods are thought to be useful for natural health eye care, possibly because of their antioxidant qualities. Carrots spring to mind, but may have been devalued by the old joke about never seeing a rabbit wearing glasses!

Never the less there are some very interesting observations about other antioxidants. For instance:

Royal Air Force bomber pilots reinforced the reputation of the bilberry, as a healing herb for natural health eye care, during the Second World War. They found that their night vision was improved if the food they ate, prior to their night bombing raid contained bilberries. Afterward tests seemed to show that bilberry is a good antioxidant that can protect cells in the eyes and elsewhere, from free radicals.

Researchers, encouraged by the RAF pilots claim, investigated further. They found compounds known as anthocyanosides, which are though to improve blood flow to blood vessels in the eyes. Such compounds found in bilberries also help with collagen that aids connective tissue.

There is no reason to believe that the bilberrys American cousin, the blueberry, would be any less effective

It will be always be as well to remember that you cannot say, "I care about natural health", without seriously considering natural health Eye Care!

Three Heart-Healthy Ways to Start Your Day

Three Heart-Healthy Ways to Start Your Day

1.Hearty Banana Muffins
2.Pumpkin-Raisin Spice Bread
3.Apple-Cranberry Oatmeal Scones With Maple Vanilla Glaze

(Family Features) - While most nutritionists agree that breakfast is the most powerful meal of the day*, you can make sure that your first meal of the day packs an extra heart-healthy punch by following these three easy steps:

Go for Oatmeal or Oat-Based Cereals
Oats are one of the best natural sources of soluble fiber. Three grams of soluble fiber per day, when part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of coronary heart disease.

Grab Some Fruit
Fruits and vegetables provide a wide range of vitamins, nutrients and antioxidants that can help protect against the effects of aging, and help reduce the risk of some cancers and heart disease. Make sure you get at least five servings of fruits and vegetables per day.

Watch Your Intake of Sodium
Many processed breakfast foods contain high levels of sodium for flavor and as a preservative. While sodium is important to the body, a high sodium diet is associated with hypertension (also known has high blood pressure). To minimize your intake of sodium, read labels and avoid foods that are high in sodium.

For an easy way to get all of these heart-health benefits in one food, check out Kashi Heart to Heart Cereal and new Instant Oatmeal, which contain 1 gram of soluble fiber from oats plus heart-healthy vitamins, nutrients and antioxidants. Heart to Heart Cereal and Instant Oatmeal are low in sodium, too! As an added benefit, Kashi products are made from nutritious ingredients that are minimally processed and free of artificial sweeteners, colors and preservatives.
